Bye-Bye Birdie at Virginia Seminary? Apparently Not Yet!

Did anyone read of the pink-flamingo crisis narrowly averted this past week? Plastic pink flamingos have been an unofficial tradition here at VTS since long before I arrived on the faculty. The unofficial seminary mascot is "Kery," a huge stuffed pink flamingo. There was some concern this week on campus, when MSNBC had an article that the factory that makes the birds in Leominster, MA is shutting down after 49 years. But do not fear, my TA, Kitty Guy, emailed to assure me that another company is buying the molds and plans to keep the national supply of flamingos well ahead of demand.

There are separatists (or, as they call themselves "' orthodox' flamingo agnostics") among the flamingo faithful at VTS who were heartened to hear that kery and her minions would have no more offspring, and would be cast into the darkness of being out of communion with the faithful...ah, but to no avail, Kery will reproduce, and the Flamingo will rise again (phoenix-like, from the ashes...)

...I think I need more coffee!
