Adam Thomas MP3: Psalm 133:1

My Beginning Hebrew Class has learned several Hebrew songs, one of which is Psalm 133:1, "Hinneh Mah Tob." One of our classmates, Adam Thomas, recorded this version of the song, which you can download as an MP3 file by right-clicking here, and selecting the "Save Target As" option. Enjoy!

הִנֵּה מַה־טֹ֭וב וּמַה־נָּעִים שֶׁבֶת אַחִים גַּם־יָחַד׃

"How very good and pleasant it is when kindred live together in unity!"

Psalm 133:1

I'm sure that if David had had a electric distortion pedal for his lyre, he'd have put it to use, especially for the psalms of lament!

Speaking of psalms, I heard on NPR that Robert Alter has a new translation out. The "All Things Considered" website has an excerpt of his Psalm 23. What are Bible scholars saying about the book? His exegesis and translation touched on some of the points we had discussed in our Hebrew readings class at VTS a couple of years ago.

Great to hear from you, Joe! As to Alter's new translation of psalms, I think it's just out about a week ago. Too early for scholarly reviews yet. However, I believe that like his recent translation of the Torah, it has lots of helpful notes and some very helpful translation choices. I imaging it will be worth acquiring. If you get it, please let us know what you think! Peace, ---S.
