Night at Golgotha, 1869, by Vasily Vereshchagin

Vereshchagin (1842-1904) was known for his graphic, realist scenes of battle. In this painting of the Good Friday events, the cold reality of death in the upper left contrasts amazingly with the light of the burial procession in the lower right. The Glo Bible is highlighting this image today.
