Thank you for making this statement publicly. The students (past and present) with which I have had conversation share with me in experiencing shock and sadness at his resignation. Blessings to Jeff, his family, and to VTS as we all work to move forward for the glory of God.

I am so sorry that you will be losing Jeff, and so sorry that he will be losing his place in the seminary community! He was an excellent teacher and scholar for many of us alums. While I agree that his leaving is the only thing to do, it is such a sad event for everyone. My heart goes out to him, to you, and to all his colleagues and friends. You are in my prayers.

I am also so sorry that Jeff is leaving. He ranks in the top 5 of teachers I have ever had, worked with, or heard in various contexts. He is bright, caring, challenging and really an excellent teacher and scholar. I will miss him tremendously. He and his family are in my prayers as well as our larger community. As a friend of mine and former student of Jeff's recently said, (and I agree), "I feel deflated for Jeff, his family, the seminary and the church." May God be with Jeff and his loved ones in this time.
