Duties of a son, from The Story of Aqhat: To erect a stele for his ancestral gods; to build a family shrine in the sanctuary; to guard his footsteps from earth to underworld; to take his hand when he is drunk; to put his arm over one's shoulder when he is full of wine; to eat a funeral meal in the temple of Ba'al; to offer a sacrifice in the house of El.

i have been there, oy!
there is nothing like a stack of seventy-five introductory philosophy papers staring at you.

I hope that my J-Term paper was graded in the first hour, not the 4th-20th hours!
I appreciate that cartoon now in a way that I never could have before when I was on the other side of the desk!
P.S. It was right about the box of chocolates, too.
...you've confirmed my deepest fears!
My husband has worked as adjunct faculty at Wesley and Marymount, and I've watched him (from a safe distance) suffer through this phenomenon. On the other hand, you're grading Grad School papers. Nothing like grading undergrads, for whom a D is a cause for celebration because they PASSED!
