I always hear that Aleppo is better than Leningrad, at a first order of approximation. Both have been available for years, so why does BHS and others base on L rather than A?

The argument that is usually made is that A is "not complete," so L is chosen if one wants to represent one particular extant ms. that best represents the Tiberian vocalization according to the Ben Asher system. It is interesting that, unlike the case for the NT, there is really no widely used critical eclectic edition of the Hebrew Bible. From time to time, there are calls for such a thing, and it may someday appear. Have any readers heard of such a thing going forward?
