Steve,

I'm very interested in your thoughts about the Aaronid tradents of the Priestly Torah activity in 2nd Isaiah. Specifically, what do you see as the relationship between them and the Zadokite group behind Ezekiel 44 that you wrote about in JBL several years ago?

Yes, following folks like Dean McBride and Robert Wilson, I differentiate between at least three priestly groups: Levites, Aaronids, and Zadokites. Thus, to take the three major prophets for example, I see the Aaronids behind Isaiah (particularly II Isaiah), the Levites behind Jeremiah, and the Zadokites behind Ezekiel. Each of these priestly branches has a very distinctive theology. ---SLC
