Student Quilt Interpreting Isaiah 51:16

This quilt project was done in the Spring of 2005 by one of my 2-Isaiah students, Betty Glover, in my OT-206 course. It is an artistic intepretation of Isaiah 51:16. Betty's presentation of the image provoked a good deal of discussion and reflection. I would be very interested in comments on how folks see this quilt and the Isaiah text interrelating.

This second view reveals the striking backing of the quilt, which Betty considered an important element in its meaning for her.

I really like this quilt. It reflects the vibrance of God's promise of love and protection, and at the same time, in the pattern, shows a sense of strength relating to His foundation. The colors also spread a loving and creative mood.

it represents Creation to me - the zig zag foundations of the earth are the volcanic upheaval of the rocks but their colours represent Gods glory. God and his heavenly seat are at the centre.
