Joy!

There is great joy tonight in the Cook household. I am cross-posting this from Catherine and my personal blog, where we have our postings on our two-year wait to bring home a daughter from China. That wait now finally appears to be over!

Birthdate: March 30, 2006

Location in China: The Social Welfare Institution of Fuling, in Fuling District, Chongqing City, Peoples Republic of China.

Fuling is situated along the Yangtze (or Changjiang) River in what until the late 20th century was part of Sichuan Province but is now the Chongqing Municipality, an autonomous region set apart to accomodate the construction of the Three Gorges Dam Project. Sichuan is known for its fertile earth, generous growing season and mountainous inaccessibility (until recently) to the rest of the world. Many Sichuanese call their province "Heaven on Earth," because of its food and beauty.
