Duties of a son, from The Story of Aqhat: To erect a stele for his ancestral gods; to build a family shrine in the sanctuary; to guard his footsteps from earth to underworld; to take his hand when he is drunk; to put his arm over one's shoulder when he is full of wine; to eat a funeral meal in the temple of Ba'al; to offer a sacrifice in the house of El.

Dr. Cook! I'm so happy for you and your wife. I wasn't aware that you had adopted a daughter, but she's beautiful and what a gift from God. A cousin of mine adopted a daughter five years ago, and Cara is the best thing that's happened to our family--making us properly international, of course!--in a long time. May God bless you richly!
Thanks so much, Laura! Yes, we got Rebecca in China on March 5, not that long ago! Are you all still in Alexandria? Do you leave for the Middle East anytime soon?? ---S.
