Yup, I'm definitely an INTJ

Facebook has a Myers-Briggs application that some of my facebook-friends are using, so a few days ago I added it to my facebook-profile. I had long known that I am an INTJ, but I took the facebook test for fun, and to see if I had changed in any ways. Nope; I'm definitely still an INTJ. Personally, I think this is an ideal personality type for a professor and researcher, since the INTJ's mind "constantly gathers information and makes associations about it." What is more, the INTJ is "tremendously insightful and usually...very quick to understand new ideas." This is a good disposition for a person who is supposed to be coming up with new theories and models for generating new understandings within a discipline, and who is supposed to appreciate and benefit from the new ideas of others. I wonder if other biblical scholars reading this post are also INTJs or if you have another Myers-Briggs type that you think suits you just as well for the vocation? Any thoughts? For a very detailed description of the INTJ profile, click either here or here.

Dr Cook,

I've been involved with Myers-Briggs for 20+ years coming to its "ins & outs" when I worked @ the newspaper.

I just had the youth group take the exercise as we have a MB trainer within the parish. I feel it's good to know where one tends to be on the scale and how they relate to others ... especially their parents and friends.

Ah, I can talk about it for hours!

Happy New Year to you. Oh, if you have not heard, it's 99% official, Adele & I will be co-rectors @ St Peter's --> Mountain Lakes, NJ. We move 1/19 and start 2/1.

Hope to see you in 2009!

Peace,
Chuck - INTP

Happy New Year, Chuck, and thank you for the comments. Hearty congratulations on the new position! I bet it will be nice to be with Adele in the same post! By the way, our friends the Chessons were talking about Adele the other day, and send their greetings to her. ---S.

I find your blog very helpful! I hope you don't mind my asking, but aren't you rather an INFJ? Because if you scored 36% as a T, then that means you scored 64% as an F. Is my observation correct? Still, thanks for sharing.
