The Hebrew Bible in Chinese Art

Having a daughter from China, Rebecca K. Cook, I am most interested in how the Old Testament gets interpreted by Chinese painters. Here are a few examples that I learned about from my faculty colleague and neighbor, Dr. John Y. H. Yieh. (Click any of the images to enlarge them.)

---Song of Songs ch. 2, by Huang Yang-hui

----Ruth and Naomi, by He Qi (1994, Ink and Color on Paper)

----Elijah in flight to Horeb (1 Kings 19:5-8)

----Song of Songs 2:11, by Wu Guo-ting (Chinese Ink Painting)

I love He Qi's art! I have his depiction of the Last Supper as a reminder of my Ordination.
