Map for Psalm 29
We are reading Psalm 29 in my Hebrew Poetry course, and a web search today revealed no online maps of the course of the thunderstorm in the psalm. That’s a shame, so I’ve made the map below (click to enlarge). Note that “Sirion” in v. 6 of the psalm is the Sidonian (Phoenician) name for Mount Hermon, indicated by the black triangle on the map. It lies at the southern tip of the Anti-Lebanon mountain range. The “Kadesh” of v. 8 is probably Kadesh-on-the-Orontes, located in the upper section of the map.

Hi, I found your map interesting - However, commentaries I read disagree with your conclusions. The NICOT commentary Located Lebanon and Sirion in the North and the wilderness of Kadesh in the south: "The storm rolls in from the sea and impresses its power across the entirety of the land—from Lebanon and Sirion in the north, to the wilderness of Kadesh in the south, and everything in between … "
How did you come to your conclusions?
Hi Andrew, The references to Lebanon and Sirion in v. 6 suggest this is a reference to the northern Kadesh, located north of Damascus, not the southern Kadesh mentioned so often in the OT. See M. Dahood, Psalms (AB), 1:178.
