When I asked some of our Seniors about their preparation for the General Ordination Examinations, which are continuing today, many of them mentioned how they have appreciated the Bible Briefs series. These delightful short pamphlets, which provide an overview of a book of the Bible that can help the reader ease into the text, are available on our website.

When Virginia Theological Seminary took on the Bible Briefs series, there were only twenty written. Dr. Stephen Cook then set to work to commission the rest of the Bible. We wanted scholars who can write out of their learning in an accessible way. He managed to persuade Canon Ron Cassidy to write the Brief on Ephesians and Rev. Dr. Richard Corney to write on Job. So we are delighted to announce today that these two Briefs are now available free of charge for download on our website.

We are pleased that our students who are preparing for their General Ordination Exams have found the series helpful. And today, I invite anyone who wants an introduction to the study of the Bible to find the series and start to use this delightful resource.

The Very Rev Ian Markham
Dean and President
